Greener is a plant care assistant that helps plant owners take better care of their plants by reminding users when their plant needs to be watered, displaying when and who the plant has been last watered by, and notifying the user of outside weather conditions.

We choose to utilize diary study methodology in order to gain deeper insights about the following questions:
• How dothey feel about plant care
• What are participants’ pain points/frustrations throughout the plant care process?

We worked with people in our social networks, and we kept the data anonymous throughout the analysis and documentation processes. (Photos that were captured during the dairy study)

This system architecture diagram below visualized the relationship between our product and users,  the interconnection and collaboration of different devices, the information flow of the product, and external technical requirements.

The system of our final design consists of a microcontroller, OLED display screen, and a temperature + moisture sensor. We will have a container to compact all these circuits and electronic components in it.

We use python to code the program and realize the essential features of our product including capturing the data of soil temperature and moisture level.
